Okay, Tommy and I decided long ago that we were going to do all that we could to keep Erin out of OUR bed and in her own. Both of us agree that it is just safer for her that way because our bed is really tall and Tommy is such a sound sleeper we didn't want him steamrolling over her in the middle of the night.
But...In the last two weeks, we've started our own little tradition. Like most dual income everybody works households, it's crazy here very early in the mornings during the week. So, to make up for it, we take turns letting the other one sleep in on Saturday mornings.
Two weeks ago, Tommy got up with Erin while I stayed in bed. He changed her, fed her and brought her back into our room. We put her between our pillows and just layed there and talked to her. She played with us a little then fell fast asleep. We then fell back to sleep and everyone slept from 7:30 to 10:15!!! Since then, we've tried it again and it worked again. We all got back in bed and we all slept in again!! Woo Hoo!
I'm sure it's against every parenting rule there is, but we don't care. I've started looking forward to Saturdays even more. It's just so sweet. Before she falls asleep, she plays with our noses and mouths. She studies things so intensely. I guess it wears her out.
Roxie takes part as well. She gets up with whomever gets up first. She goes out and takes care of business then promptly goes back under the bed to her "bed" and doesn't get up until we do.
Life around here is good on Saturdays, so please don't drop in until at least 10:30!! :)
