Friday, Week 20

Another week down, 20 more to go. Hello half-way!

The baby is about the size of a cantaloupe. She's about 10 oz and about 6 1/2 inches long. We'll have official gender confirmation on Monday. I have my 20 week ultrasound with the doctor. Hopefully the goods will be on full display so we can know for once and for all that she is a she!

As you can see, I got bored and gave the blog a face lift. I'm digging the new color scheme. All I can say is don't get too used to it. I'm sure I'll change it again soon.

I have successfully made it thru the entire week without cooking. Tommy's birthday was Tuesday so went out to eat to celebrate that Monday and Tuesday nights. Wednesday he was hungry for pizza and tonight he suggested we stay in and eat cereal or something. I have the best husband in the world. (I reserve the right to withdraw that statement when he ticks me off.)

Roxie has developed a new obsession with the backyard. We can't figure out what she's doing out there. She just sits at the back door begging to go out. She doesn't have to go potty, she just sniffs and runs around. It's getting very annoying. I thought when she came back from the groomer this time she might not want to spend all that time out there in the cold. I was wrong. Even with her short haircut she wants to be out there 24/7.

Started back at to my old job at State Farm this week. Instead of investigating theft claims, I'm back to settling total losses. It was my decision to go back. I'm actually on the exact same team I left a year and a half ago. Only time will tell, but so far I'm very happy with my choice to go back.

Moving Right Along... Part II

We're moving at the speed of light here now...We ordered the baby furniture the weekend before last and they just called to say it's all in. I paid the balance off by phone and now we're just waiting on the delivery guy to call me to schedule an appointment for the delivery! It was very shocking, they originally told us it would be 6 to 8 weeks before the furniture would be in. That's why we ordered it so early. Not that I'm complaining , but a week and a half is a big surprise.

We also decided to spring for the delivery instead of picking it up. Tommy helped Mark move Luke's new baby furniture two weeks ago and decided he would rather "pay the man" to come do it. Mark and Steph have a two story too. Luke's furniture filled up the bed of Tom's truck and we actually ordered more pieces then they did! It would take us two trips or two trucks and the distribution center is an hour away on the other side of Houston. Couple that with our twisting stair case and it would have been a recipe for a frustrated husband/father to be! We owe Mark and Steph a thank you for that little insight! Way to go Luke!

Shown above is the bedding I finally decided on. The stuff I originally picked out didn't meet minimum safety standards after I did some research on it. It also was dry clean only. Seriously, who makes unsafe dry clean only baby bedding??? Of course the new stuff I fell in love with is more expensive. The story of my life!

144 Days to Go!

I ordered this baby book on line the other day and it came in today. I am super excited. It's so cute in person I could just go into sugar shock! I ordered the pink ink pad to go with it so we can put her handprints and footprints in the book. I also ordered the packet of extra pages. My little scrapbooking heart is so happy! Can't wait to get started on it.

Tommy was picking on me about getting it and what if it's a boy! I'm keeping it just in case, but we are so having a girl! Roxie and I are already making plans since he'll really be outnumbered come July.

New T-shirt

Okay, just had to post this. Some of you may have seen it on Facebook. I ordered this t-shirt on line and it came in today. Too cute. Can't wait to wear it. The other one I got says "Already Smarter than Bush". I didn't take a picture of that one because Tommy doesn't like it. Boo! (I'll just wear that one when he isn't around.)

Friday - Week 19

The baby is hitting the growth charts this week. She is 6 inches long and weighs about a half a pound. A week from Monday and we'll know for sure that she is a SHE!

In the meantime, we're working on the baby shower, and other cute things that go along with a baby.

We'll be cleaning out the upstairs bedroom making the baby's room soon. (Too soon if you ask Tommy!) Neither one of us is looking forward to stuffing two rooms full of furniture into one room. -We're moving the trundle bed into his office/my scrapbook room. It will be a little more crowded in there but still livable.

Changes, changes, changes...

149 Days to go...

We're almost to the halfway mark! Not that I'm counting...

Well, we've ordered the baby furniture. I was going to wait to find out if it was a girl or a boy and order white or espresso depending on the outcome. We know it's a girl, but Tom wanted to wait. We went in to price it and came out with the furniture!! I decided to go with the espresso for either gender.

I really like it when I was looking online at it, but fell in love with it in the store. The good thing about ordering it now is that I should have it before the baby shower. That way everyone can see it since we're having the shower here at the house.

Week 18

Well, we've made it to the 5th month! Yay!!

The baby is about 5 1/2 inches long. She weighed 6 oz last week, so she's probably still around that size. Supposedly, she's filling out nicely and I should be able to feel her move soon. Besides twisting, turning, punching and kicking, she's working on hiccups and yawning. The book says I might be able to feel the hiccups soon. She also has complete fingerprints on her fingers and toes!

Daddy has started working on a toy box for the baby. He started on it last week. We were over there the other night and he showed us the pieces he had cut. I showed him a picture of the furniture we picked out so he's making the toy box to match it. He's very talented. He's happy to be doing this for the baby and I think a little project is good for him too! I promise to post pictures when it's done and full of toys before she's even born!

No Questions From the Big Winners!

We had another doctor's appointment today. It was my scheduled appointment. I was there last week but didn't see the doctor so they had me keep this appointment. It was another Chick-Fil-A express visit. We were in and out in 15 minutes.

All went well. We heard the baby's heartbeat. It was at 159 beats today. He said all was progressing well. My blood pressure is great and I have only gained one pound since my last appointment with him 3 weeks ago. He asked us a couple of times if we had any questions. We had a couple, but I was really feeling the pressure to come up with a question for him!! I kept thinking, are we suppose to have more questions? What are we not asking that everyone else asks? Yikes, we stink as parents already!!

The ultrasound tech from last week told us not to tell him she guessed we were having a girl. We were surprised today when he asked us if she could tell us anything about the sex in that appointment. He phrased the question like he knew that she did. He said that was good that she did, but then emphasized that we shouldn't rush out and buy anything for the baby yet. Gee, thanks Dr. Strong.

Tommy won $1,000 in a Superbowl pot this weekend. He bought just one $50.00 square and we won the 3rd quarter. I didn't believe him when he told me. You know how he is. I all but called him a liar and made him show me the squares again to double check. Sure enough, we won. We've earmarked the winnings to go towards baby furniture. The baby isn't here yet and she's already getting money out of Daddy!

Week 17

We're saying goodbye to another week and we're wrapping up the 4th month! It was certainly one for the history books!

Our little princess is now about the size of the palm of my hand. We know she weighs 6 oz as of Tuesday. Body fat is beginning to form on the baby (I have plenty of that myself and would be more than willing to share...) But, she's still pretty skinny. We could see how skinny her legs were in that 3D ultrasound picture. So skinny in fact, I would swear she wasn't my kid. I've never had legs that skinny. Princess is practicing sucking and swallowing to prepare for eating. Her heart rate is now regulated by the brain instead of spontaneous beats. Her heart beat was 143 beats a minute on Tuesday.

Ready, set, go...

I've picked out the baby furniture and bedding that I want. Tommy is making me show restraint instead of buying it now. He wants to wait and get the "It's a Girl" from the doctor himself on March 1st. I'm already threatening to be at the furniture store on March 1st immediately after our appointment. I called today and they have to order the stuff I want. They don't keep it in stock. So, I'll order it and have to wait 2 months for it to come in. I'm way too impatient for that.

Drum Roll Please....Pink Booties It Is!!

Every cloud has a silver lining! We got lucky today!
(See the post before this one for background on what happened this morning...)
IT'S A GIRL!!!
After this morning's craziness, I was at my desk at work and decided to call the doctor's office just to tell them what happened. They told me to come in for an ultrasound just to be sure everything was fine with the baby.
The friendly ultrasound tech started looking and everything with the baby looks perfect. We could clearly see the 4 chambers of the heart, the brain, the spine, arms, legs and fingers and toes. It was so cute. The baby was stretched out and wiggling around there. At one point the kid stuck her legs out straight up in the air. She was sucking on her thumb. (That's the second picture up there. You can see the fingers in a line with the thumb in the mouth!) All in all, it was very good news and very reassuring to know that nothing happened this morning.
I asked the tech that since it was my birthday and since I had such a crappy morning could she see anything as far as the sex of the baby. She prodded around and said she thinks it's a girl. We could clearly see her little girl parts. She said Dr. Strong doesn't like for her to tell his patients especially before 20 weeks, so she told me to keep in on the low down and act surprised on March 1st when he does the big ultrasound.
Tommy is still in shock! Neither of us cared if it was a boy or a girl, but deep down what guy doesn't want a son?
Knowing that the baby is okay is the best birthday present I could have hoped for.

Scary Morning Bout with Road Rage

Happy Birthday to me....

On my way to work this morning I got in a fender bender and the guy got out and attacked my truck and screamed at me that I was fat!! Very scary morning...

It started out where the road we were on merged from two lanes to one. Me and the rest of the traffic were in the correct lane. This guy came up on the side where the lane was ending and tried to get in front of me. I didn't let him. I honked at him and then he rolled his window down and started yelling at me. He got close and hit the mirror on the passenger side of my truck with his van.

He then slowed down and got beside me. He was screaming at me and punching my mirror with his fist. I didn't stop. I kept inching along in traffic trying to get away from him. He squeezed over behind me and followed me thru the stop sign. He kept flashing his lights at me. I went thru the stop sign and he followed right behind me without stopping. I slowed down and then stopped to let him go around. He rammed into the back of my truck and got out and started hitting my window.

I was scared to death. I dialed 911 and was on the phone with the operator telling her what he was doing. All of this happened on the county line so they had to transfer me to Harris Co. 911 in the middle of all of this. In the meantime, he got back into his van screaming at me to get out of the way. He pulled off on a side street and I pulled over away from him in another area.

I was still on the phone with 911. He got out of his van, looked at the damage then ran over to me. He started beating on the window and screaming terrible profanity at me. This went on for about a minute. He then ran back over to his van, got in and drove away. I was still on the phone with 911 and was able to give them his plate info. Since he was gone, they disconnected with me. I called Tommy almost hysterical. He jumped in the car to come up there.

By the time Tommy got there the police had shown up. Two cop cars. One got out and talked to me. The other guy went to this little business right there and I saw him talking to a guy there. The police ran the plates and the van came back to a security company in Rose Hill, Texas. He took the report, the witness told them about the guy going nuts on my truck, and they said he will be ticketed for minor accident and failure to stop and give information.

The policeman told me at the very least the guy will be ticketed and probably fired from his job. He said that if the traffic division of Harris Co. presses charges against him I'll have to go to court to verify that it was him that hit me and fled the scene. This won't be too hard since I got an up close and personal look at him as he was pounding on my window and screaming at me.

The important thing is that me and the baby are fine. It was a heck of a hit from behind, but I was seat belted in and it didn't do too much damage to the back of my truck. Thank God for Chevy Tahoes! I have a splitting headache but I think that's from crying so hard and not from the accident. I was bawling and shaking all over. I've calmed down now and will be going to work in just a minute. I've got to turn my own claim in!
