Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to all!
I'm working tomorrow until 3:00, then we're heading up to Centerville so I won't be updating the blog tomorrow or on Christmas Day. We'll have Christmas with the Mizes this year. (We rotate years between the Wistners and Mizes.) Santa will visit Jake on Christmas Day then Mark and Steph and Jake will come up to Centerville and all the Mizes will celebrate on Christmas Day. The Wistners had our Christmas last weekend. It gets a little hectic going from here to there from one family to the next, but well worth it in the end.
I think Tommy and I will have our Christmas together before we leave tomorrow. We like to have our small Christmas just the two of us before we get to the family celebrations. It's been our little tradition. I guess next year the tradition will be very different!!! And something tells me Christmas won't be that small anymore!
I just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. It's suppose to be cold and that makes me even more festive. So, bundle up and drink lots of hot chocolate!
P.S. We'll be 11 weeks along on Christmas Day. The baby will be just over 2 inches long and weigh about 1/3 of an ounce. Hair follicles are forming as well as finger nail and toe nail beds. The baby now has individual fingers and toes now instead of webbed hangs and feet. Supposedly, the baby is now suppose to look more like a baby.

Doctor's Visit
We had another doctor's visit this morning.
He listened with the Doppler and found the heartbeat. He said it can be hard to find 10 weeks, but it was there. It sounded like horses running. It was 171 beats a minute. It sounded good and strong to me but what do I know!
We were there for a check up and to see if we wanted to do the genetic testing for chromosomal abnormalities. We don't. He got us in this week to make sure we had time to order the tests if we wanted them done. We're going on faith here. God has looked out for us this far and we have faith that everything will be fine. In the end, Dr. Strong seemed supportive of the fact that we declined the testing. He didn't push or question our decision at all.
We go back in a month. He said at that visit he'll listen to the heartbeat again and the visit after that is when we'll find out the sex. (20 weeks) We signed our OB Contract today and found out the drive-out price on our little package. It's crazy, they won't see you again until you sign the contract. We have great insurance, so it wasn't a problem, but that would have put a spoiler on the visit if we didn't!
Roxie is still in denial of the fact that she'll no longer be an only child.

Happy 10 Weeks
Okay, I think I may have the morning sickness beat. I have figured out little tricks and so far so good. (Yesterday doesn't count...) Now, I just have to get over my head cold and allergies!
We're 10 weeks today.
The baby is the size of a prune. Not sure but I think he/she may actually resemble a prune at this stage. Knees and ankles are forming and he/she has elbows that are already working. Bones and joints are forming and calcifying. (We could actually see the spine forming on the last ultrasound.) We have an appointment first thing Monday morning so I should have more to post after that.
Busy weekend at the Mizes. Wistner family Christmas is tonight. Amy and Matt are leaving to be with his family over the holiday so we're doing it a little early this year. Whose complaining? Early Christmas presents!!
Tomorrow is the Mize Christmas party with Tommy's extended family. We're driving to Madisonville to have the festivities at his cousin's house. If I know me and my cravings, we'll have to stop at Buccee's in Madisonville to buy me some peanut butter fudge. Yum.
Roxie will be hanging with her cousins tonight and will be spending tomorrow recovering.

Yucky Monday
I picked a good day to stay home and work from home. It's cold, rainy and very foggy today. In the meantime, Roxie and I are drinking hot chocolate and working in our pajamas!
We had a busy weekend. We were at Chad White's first birthday party. I think the highlight was seeing him dive into his cake. He had blue icing everywhere! Tommy had another Texans game yesterday. They won so he came home happy. He's fighting a bad cold and went to bed before I did last night - please read that as he went to bed at 8:00 pm - so you know he was sick!
I finished up my Christmas shopping yesterday. Now I just have to get everything wrapped. We're having our family Christmas on Friday night. Amy and Matt are flying out of town for Christmas to be with his family and it's the only time before Christmas that we can all get together. In keeping with the non-traditional theme, we're having nachos for dinner that night! Ole!

Week Nine
It's officially week 9 today. We're now in our 3rd month!
The baby has graduated from an embryo to a fetus. It's grown about an inch and is now the size of a large green olive. Arms and legs are in place and muscles are now twitching and moving, but I can't feel it yet. We could see the arms and legs on the ultrasound on Wednesday. The baby's head is starting to look more like a head. I think all in all the baby is starting to look more like a baby!
We made the decision to find out the sex of the baby so as soon as we can do that we're going to. There's just too much to plan for not to find out. We would both like to be surprised, but neither one of us wants to wait out the nine months until we know. So, come week 20 we're going to find out. (Now watch the baby not cooperate and keep his/her legs together!)
I've been waking up in the middle of the night hungry. I guess because I go to bed so early! Anyway, I get up with Roxie and we have a snack. Tommy's been sleeping thru the whole thing. It's just weird for me to wake up hungry in the middle of the night.

Feeling Better
Okay, we're feeling much better these days. I've still got the nausea in the mornings, but I have figured out that a bowl of cold cereal helps. It's really strange. I hate cereal. I can't stand anything soggy. It grosses me out but makes me feel better at the same time. Very weird.
The spotting has stopped so the hemorrhage must have corrected itself already. This is good news! Double Yeah!! We appreciate your thoughts and prayers thru that scary time. They worked!
I've gotten most of my Christmas shopping done. I still have to get a present for the Mize Christmas gift exchange and Tommy is being very uncooperative this year. He hasn't given me any ideas yet, but he hasn't given anyone any ideas. I think he'll be getting lumps of coal for being bad.
Roxie is taking it easy these days. She played with her nephew the other day and decided kids weren't so bad. We'll have to see what happens when we have a little one here that doesn't go home!

A Little Scare
We had a little scare last night and this morning. I had a tiny amount of bleeding. We called the doctor and they worked me in this morning. Everything is fine and I'm taking it easy the rest of the day.
They did an ultrasound and found that we have a subchorionial hemmorage. They were able to locate it on the ultrasound. The tech discribed it as a broken blood vessel. We were told that it is normal and should resolve itself with no complications. From what the tech said, these are pretty common. Mine happen to be about a 1/2 inch long and located at the bottom, therefore, the bleeding.
The good thing is that they did another ultrasound and the baby is about twice as big as it was last week. The heart rate this time was 167 beats per minute. So, I guess we're out of the boy range of heartbeats and we've moved on to the girl range if you believe the old wives tails. It was cool. We could see the arms and legs and the beginnings of the spine. The heartbeat is still good and strong and we could see it and hear it beating.

Eight Weeks Today
And only 225 more days to go.
The books say the baby is the size of a kidney bean at this stage. It's developing eyelids and hands and feet. It's amazing to see the pictures of what it looks like at this stage. Something so small can make me feel so sick. It's crazy!
The countdown continues...
Now if Tommy would only let me start decorating the nursery!!! Ha Ha

Thank you
Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. We appreciate them.
Morning sickness is here and kicking my butt. It's the kind that starts in the morning and keeps going until the evening. It should be called All Day Sickness! I know it's a small price to pay and in a weird way it is reassuring to know that something is going on since I can't feel anything with the baby yet. But, it won't hurt my feelings to get out of the first trimester. I'm just praying it stops in the second trimester. People tell me it just magically stops one day. I sure hope so.

Yes, You Read Right.

Well, the stork stopped in our room on the cruise. We're having a baby.
We had the first doctor's appointment today. We're 7 weeks along. The baby's heartbeat was 128 beats per minute and the doctor said it was nice and strong.
We'll be delivering in the middle of July.
Attached is the baby's first photo. It's supposedly the size of a blueberry at this stage of the game.

Walking with Sharks in Atlantis...
Well, were back from vacation and I've been slacking in the update department. Sorry. I've been busy decorating the house for Thanksgiving and getting a jump start on my Christmas shopping. Yes, I said Christmas shopping!!!
Vacation was a blast. The weather was beautiful. We parasailed in Key West for the first time. I've attached the videos at the bottom. We had a great time. Key West was very layed back and we did a lot of walking around and sightseeing. We ate a lot of conch fritters too!
The other two stops on the cruise were Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas. In Freeport we did a day long beach break. It was very relaxing. The water was a little cold because of the breeze but it was perfect for just laying in the sun and reading.
In Nassau we went to the megaresort Atlantis. We got lost walking around when we first got there and it started to rain. I think we were all thinging it was going to be a crappy day when the sky cleared and the sun came out. We found our way and the day was a great one.
While we were there we rode the water slides and did the Walk with Sharks adventure. That's the pictures at the top. As you can see, you put on a wet suit (very sexy) and a heavy helmet and climb 20 feet down into the shark tank. From there you walk around while the sharks are swimming about. It was very cool.
Roxie spend the week in luxury accomodations with her grandparents. She came back fat and happy!
We're already planning our next cruise so I'm going to leave the countdown thing on the blog. Hopefully it will be soon.

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N
Gimme a V, Gimme a A...
It's finally time for vacation. I couldn't sleep last night I was so pumped. And then when I did sleep I woke up a 5:30 thinking about what I needed to do to finish getting ready!
Roxie is with her grandparents. Tommy asked me who I thought would gain the most weight while we were on the cruise. Us or Roxie. Let's just say her grandparents indulge her a bit. I'm sure right this minute she's still snuggled up in bed with them dreaming about snacks and catching squirrels.
This is a landmark cruise for me and Tommy. It marks our 10th cruise so we'll be VIPs on the cruise. It means they do our laundry for us for free and we get priority seating at dinner and priority embark and debarkation. It will be nice to walk right up onto the ship without having to stand in the long lines today.
This cruise is with our friends Craig and Allison. They've cruised before but never with us. Tommy has shown Craig the finer points of smuggling beer onto the ship. Hopefully no one gets busted today. The worst that will happen is that Tom loses a case of beer hidden in a carry on suitcase.
As usual, I have over packed and could probably be gone for a month without wearing the same thing twice. I like to have choices on these trips! I never know what I'm going to feel like wearing and options are a good thing.
We'll be out of pocket for the next week, but we'll be thinking about you all. I know we're going to parasail in Key West, so we'll have some photos and maybe a video for the link. We'll see.
Love to all!

Monday
Typical Monday. I worked Saturday duty over the weekend and don't feel like I really got a weekend. Oh well.
Tommy went to the Texans game yesterday. From what I hear, it was a heart breaker. Glad I didn't go. What a let down to lose it at the end like that.
I've complete decorated the house for Halloween. I bought a bunch of stuff last year and have added to the collection. The soap dispenser in the bathroom glows in the dark. On Saturday when the family was over I knew Amy would be a sucker for it. Sure enough, she went into the bathroom and I heard the lights click off so she could see it glow. What she didn't know was that I hid in the guest bedroom across the hall and when she came out of the bathroom, I jumped out at her. She came about 3 feet off the ground and her hair practically stood up. I thought it was hysterical. Let the Halloween pranks begin...
Roxie got a Halloween costume. She'll be dressing up as a pumpkin. I put it on her and she goes "dog-a-tonic". She refuses to move and hits the deck like the enemy is throwing grenades. I don't think she'll be doing much door answering on Halloween since she refuses to budge an inch with her costume on. I think I've figured out the best way to keep her quite when the doorbell rings non-stop!

This Weekend
Well, we should have a fun filled weekend.
Daddy's birthday was Wednesday so we're all going out to eat tomorrow night. We're coming back over here for cake and ice cream. (Is it wrong that I can't wait for that??)
I have to work all day tomorrow, but I'll love the OT on my next paycheck! At least that's what I'll be telling myself as I get up and get dressed in the morning.
The countdown for the cruise is underway. I bought Target out of sunscreen today. Tommy keeps asking me when I'll be done buying for this trip. Silly man. I have 3 more weeks of shopping left!!

Re-building
Okay, I made some changes to the blog.
I think it looks prettier now. I'm sure the 2 people (counting me) who read it will like the changes.

Vacation
Just in case you didn't see the cruise countdown on my blog...
25 days until our next cruise. WOO HOO!

Summer is Offically over
The boat is back in the garage and summer is officially behind us. We took it out for one last weekend of fun with Amy and Matthew and some friends. We went to Lake Fayette County and had a blast. Amy made up a song about the lake and loving the big tube. I would sing it for you but can't remember the very complicated lyrics.
It was cold and overcast for part of the time there but as long as you stayed in the water you were good. On Saturday the sun came out and we played for hours.
One small problem with the boat...they always have at least one small problem...our battery is dying. We didn't know that it needed to be replaced until we got out on the lake. This lake is literally in the middle of nowhere. In the Mize system, Angela gets in the boat and Tommy backs it into the water. I get the boat off the trailer and drive it around to the pier to pick him up after he parks the truck. Our systems been working for years. Until this trip...
This trip, the boat wouldn't start either morning and Amy and I were in the boat looking pretty helpless. We had to bum a jump start on both mornings before going out. It seems fisherman have a sense of humor when two girls in a boat ask them for a "jump".
Roxie stayed with her Wistner Grandparents and had a fun filled weekend with all her cousins. Mom and Daddy very kindly agreed to take in all the dogs so we could go with Amy and Matt. It must have been exciting because Roxie slept the rest of the day after we picked her up on Sunday. I'm sure Mom and Daddy napped too after the bark parade left town!

Rainy Day
It's been pouring all day today and it just adds to my mood. I know this is a short week but it seems that people are being short instead. I've had more unhappy people on the phone today then I did all of last week!! I'll be glad when Friday gets here.
Going to Beaumont this weekend for another Girls Night Out with my old crew. Not sure on the location yet and they're giving my OCD a complex. I'm a planner. I need a plan people!!!
Dyed my hair jet black last night. I don't look like a vampire or anything but it is dark. Just got a wild hair literally and decided to do it. I've gone lighter before but never darker. I like it. All Tommy could say was "it's dark". He did tell me today that it looks better then it did. He just has to give it some time to fade a little bit. Hair color the next day never looks good. It has to settle a little.
We had company this weekend. Bridgette and Wade and the 2 kids. It was crazy around here. Roxie is still recovering. All that movement and noise gets her all keyed up. She's come such a long way in the kid department. She had Will, Julia, Jake and Chad over here on Saturday for a little party and she didn't even bat an eye. Jake tormented her by chasing her around and making her bark at him. He didn't know she wasn't playing. She was just great with him. Like I said, she's still recovering. (I think all 3 of us are!)

Wednesday
Well, we're halfway thru the week. I'm working "late" duty this week. I go in a 9:30 and get off at 6:00. The good news is that it's only for a week. The bad news is that it totally messes up my schedule and I get to work already feeling like I'm running late. Just my OCD at it's best!!!
Tommy had a Texans game on Monday night. He tailgated and then stayed for the whole game. He didn't get home until late and I think he's still recovering, at least that's what I told myself last night as he snored the doors off the bedroom!
Roxie had a busy day today. She had a haircut appointment. She was shaking like a leaf when I dropped her off and had that look in her eyes like I was the most rotten person on earth. I felt horrible about leaving her. An hour later when she was ready, I walked in to pick her up and she was sitting in the shop owner's lap and they were playing on the computer and talking on the phone. What a life!!

Update on the D.I.Y.

Well, we finished the Guest Room at Mom and Daddy's. It turned out fabulous and better then we expected.
Daddy and I hung the headboard and the rest just fell into place. We picked out a nice comforter set and hung the curtains. It all took about 3 hours and that included the shopping for the comforter and hanging the wall hangings too. The Wistners are super efficient!
I think the Vacancy sign at the Wistner Hotel is now turned on. Ready for guests...
High Tech Rednecks
Okay New Millennium, here come the Mizes....
We joined the crackberry/iphone generation and bought iphones this week. I can already tell you that I understand the addiction now. That phone is super cool. It does so much and I love being able to check my e-mail/facebook from anywhere. Wondering how I went without one for so long! Tommy loves his too. He's already got it set up to play his Texas Country music and will be using it for Fantasy Football this year. Who said old dogs can't learn new tricks!!!
I dressed mine up in green so we could tell them apart. Tommy is staying with the manly traditional black phone. (You know I love my green phones...) Roxie is unimpressed with either.

D.I.Y
Okay, I got inspired this weekend to do fix it up jobs.
I added greenery and some pottery to the space above my cabinets. I love it. I didn't realize my kitchen needed something until it was up. It made it warm and doesn't look cluttered like I thought it would. I bought greenery I think I can just throw in the washing machine when it gets dusty. We'll see.
In my zest to fix it up, I also decided to tackle mom's guest bedroom. We're doing the decorating on a shoestring budget so we had to improvise. I bought some material, batting and had a piece of plywood cut to make a headboard. Worked on it last night and think it turned out pretty good. Daddy and I will hang it this weekend and I'll take some pictures of the end results. Momma and I will be buying a comforter and curtains to match, but we need to get the headboard hung to get an idea of what we want.
Tommy will be headed to the Texan's game on Saturday instead of helping with Project Guestroom, but Roxie will be assisting. Look for pictures later.

Daddy's Girl
She sleeps snuggled up to Tommy. She follows Tommy around and even barbeques with him. Then why, oh why, at 1:00 in the morning does she wake me up to go outside? Roxie clearly prefers her daddy, the little traitor, but I'm the go to girl!!
After making enough noise to wake the dead, she's been outside and is now back to snoozing comfortably in bed. I on the other hand am now wide awake! And Tommy slept thru the whole thing.
And people want us to have a real kid! Ha!!

Reunited!
Bandit has now been reunited with his family.
All is good at the Mize house again. We're back down to a one dog family.

Dog Days of Summer
Okay, my heart is bigger then my head...We have another dog now, at least temporarily...
It was storming and pouring down rain today when I came home. There were some workers sitting a truck and a golden retriever mix was fantically trying to get into the truck with them. The dog was literally freaking out and climbing all over the truck. I stopped and he tried to get into the truck with me. I pulled away when he got under the worker's truck.
I just couldn't quit thinking about him and was worried they would hurt him when the pulled away. So, in the pouring rain, in my work clothes, I tromp down the street to rescue the dog. He comes running up to me and I put him on Roxie's pink leash and brought him home. He's now in the backyard resting comfortably by the back door. He's very calm now that it isn't storming anymore.
I called the number on his tag - a vet in Temple!!! And the were able to track down the owner. Lucky for me the owner actually called back!!! She was a very nice lady who lives here in Spring Trails. She got the dog from someone in Temple. She said he just goes nuts in the thunder and lightning and somehow got out of her fence.
Luckily, Roxie will still be an only dog! I know Tommy was thinking he was going to be stuck with this dog forever, but I just couldn't leave him out in the storm. So, Bandit's mom will be here to pick him up about 8:00 because she was clear on the other side of Houston.
If Roxie were lost I would want someone to help her. I just couldn't turn my back on poor Bandit. Again, my heart is bigger then my head sometimes...

Monday, Again!
We officially hate Mondays around here.
I'm working from home today because of a splitting headache I've had for 2 days. It's nice to have the option of working from home. I just couldn't put up with the noise in the office today. Nice and quiet here.
Tommy watched UFC this weekend at a radio station in Houston. A friend won tickets so they went. From what I hear, they had a good time.
Roxie and I stayed home and snoozed. We're still not sure about this big attraction to UFC!

Wednesday
Well, Roxie and I are home alone again. Tommy is off to Austin for another meeting. He has class tomorrow and then home again.
In the meantime, Rox and I are just taking it easy. We had leftovers and will be turning in early tonight. It's been a hectic week at work.
Roxie has decided to forgive me for forgetting her outside the other night. I let her out, and went to brush my teeth. I forgot to let her back in and got in bed. It was probably about 2 hours later when Tommy was looking for her that he found her outside. She never barked or said a word. She just came running in like we leave her outside for hours all the time. I felt sooooo bad!! I'm an unfit mother!

Monday!
Okay, the official "I hate Mondays" campaign is under way. Yuck.
I had such a great time seeing my old friends the other night. It was great. We laughed and cut up and it was just like old times, only better. My face hurt from smiling and my throat hurt from laughing so hard. It was worth it. We're going to make an effort to meet every other month now. We already planned our second "Girls' Night Out" for September. Our little group is growing, but there are so many people to add to the mix. Next thing you know, we'll be filling a restaurant to capacity!!
The dinner inspired me to get some people together that live here in Spring/Woodlands. I already sent a message planning a lunch this week with 3 people I went to school with who live in The Woodlands. It's such a small world!
Tommy went to Texans Training Camp this morning. I haven't heard if he had a good time or got any autographs. I just know he left at the crack of dawn because they practice so early to avoid the heat.
Roxie is taking it easy today. She's been sitting in the window all day, but so far hasn't had much to report/bark at.

The Weekend!
The Weekend is finally here! Yeah!!
I'm going to Beaumont tomorrow to have late lunch with some of my old high school buddies. I haven't seen some of them in 15 or so years!!! Shout out to Shalagh, Sandy, Darella, Kim, and of course, Stacey. It's going to be a quick trip since they all have kids and this was the best time for them, but it will be fun all the same.
I have a baby shower on Sunday for our neighbor next door having twins. I originally thought I wouldn't get to go because of my lunch tomorrow but then realized I had the dates mixed up. I can now do both. Yes, I can do it all :)
Tommy and Roxie will be hanging out here on the home front. Roxie is right now hiding under the bed because of the thunder and lightning. Yes, it actually rained here today. Now if it will just keep it up all night and quit tomorrow for the weekend!!! Woo for the weekend.

Mize Girls Rule
Well, Roxie and I just saw Tommy off. He's going to Austin until tomorrow night. He's the chair of a project and has a state-wide meeting tomorrow. Woo Hoo, bring on the dancing boys!
We've already got our supper planned and will probably be painting our toenails later. Roxie is already standing guard at the window to alert me to any strange happenings. I know she's a little thing, but she's aggressive when it comes to protecting her Momma (meal ticket).

One Week later
Okay, one week and 4 photo albums later, I have all the old pictures in albums.
My next job is to label and add some scrapbook bling to them. Whew!
Project 2 is a cookbook. I've already started it, and would work on it when I got tired of looking at pictures. I have so many cookbooks and scraps of paper with recipes on them that I decided to compile my own on line. I have cookbooks with recipes I'll never attempt in a millions years. My goal with my own cookbook is to put only recipes that I know I like or will try. I hate those cookbooks with Martha Stewart like recipes that just make me feel bad about my cooking skills!!! MY COOKBOOK will be compiled, then bound with hard covers and shipped to me. Pretty cool.
Anyway, I'm about half-way finished with my own recipes and have called on friends and family to fill in the rest. So, if you're reading this and have a good recipe that isn't too terribly difficult, please pass it on.
Going to lunch with the Mizes today. We're meeting a Pappadeaux's and then going back to Mark and Steph's to watch Jake play in his new pool.
Roxie will be guarding the homefront.

All I see is pictures!
I've been working everynight on my pictures that I got from Mom and Dad's. Man, I'm even dreaming about pictures.
These scrapbooks, and yes I did mean plural, will be nice once they are together but I can't see my kitchen table anymore!!

Picture Happy

I rescued a box of old pictures from Mom and Daddy's. Most of them survived the flood but some weren't so lucky.
I'm scrapbooking them so wish me luck! There are hundreds of them!!
Here's a sample from some of the oldies but goodies. This was one of my birthdays. I'm thinking 8 or 9 and that would make Amy 5 or 6. I'm in the red by the cake and she's two down in the white shirt.
I Love the River and the River Loves Me...
Borrowing a line from the song Amy sang all weekend. "I Love the River and the River Loves Me." In fact that was the only line to the song come to think of it.
We're back from the river and had a great time. The weather was perfect and it was nice and cool while you were in the water. No one came back a total lobster.
Items lost:
Matthew - sunglasses
J.D. - hat
Amy - hat
Wade - hat and sunglasses
Tommy - hat
Items Found:
Matthew - no sunglasses ever recovered
J.D. - a replacement hat that Amy stole from some kids was almost as good as the one he lost
Amy - a little girl found it upstream (not the same one she stole the other hat from)
Wade - Matt rescued the hat, the glasses were a lost cause
Tommy - another camo hat was found on the side of the river and he adopted it.
The river taketh away and the river giveth back.
Matt's mom, Lois, floated with us on Friday. It was not so crowded and we had a great time. We floated in the morning, took a break for lunch, then floated again. Our condo was right on the water and easy to get out there for our breaks.
Saturday the river was packed. I seriously think that in some places you could have walked across the river and not gotten your feet wet, stepping from tube to tube. Bridgette and Wade came for the day. We floated until it started to rain around 5:00. We thought it might lightning, so we hung out at the pool instead of going back out on the river. It never did lightning, but we had a good time anyway. Amy, Bridgette and I did tricks in the pool that delighted and amazed people (mainly us).
Tommy is already planning our next float for sometime next month. We're crazy like that!
Roxie had a good time with Max, Bailey and Jake at Uncle Mark and Aunt Steph's. But she has done nothing but sleep since she got back!

The Night Before...
Getting all packed up to head to New Braunfels. The water is suppose to be really low. I think we're going to try to float the Comal on Friday and the Guadalupe on Saturday. I bought a waterproof digital camera today and will be trying it out this weekend. I'll post some shots when we get back.
Tommy's cousin and his fiance', Gene and Misty, and Bridgette and Wade are suppose to join us on Saturday. Hopefully, we'll have a good relaxing time even if the water is low. The way I look at it is that I'll have plenty to eat and drink and I won't be at work. What could be better then that???
Roxie will be staying with Uncle Mark and Aunt Stephanie. She will get to play with Jake and Bailey all weekend. I'm sure she'll be exhausted by the time we pick her up on Sunday.

Saturday - the all day report
We had a funeral to go to this morning for a co-worker's wife. It was very sad and very different. She and her husband are very into Harley Davidsons and motorcycles. Most of the people there were dressed in their black Harley gear with jeans, do-rags and riding boats. Most of them rode their bikes to the funeral. From the service they were caravaning by motorcycle to Beaumont for the burial. Her motorcycle was put on a trailer and being pulled by the hearse. Her husband (our co-worker) wore a sleeveless black Harley t-shirt that said "I love my wife." The preacher was wearing his Harley gear including black fingerless riding gloves while he gave the eulogy. The preacher said she is riding her dream red Classic Harley Davidson down the golden streets of Heaven right now and would have loved the "Biker Trash" send off.
On a lighter note, we're going to have dinner with friends tonight. We haven't seen Angie and A.L. in a while. It will be great. After dinner, Tommy will be watching the UFC fight and I'll be in bed snoozing for hours before the main fight even comes on. Roxie will be snuggled up to me waiting for her dad to get home.

Friday
Well, the week if finally over. It was hectic at work and I'm glad it's done. It seems the car thieves were very busy over the 4th. Tommy had a busy week too covering his territory and the territory of a co-worker on vacation.
We had dinner tonight with Momma and Daddy. Spur of the moment thing that turned out to be very fun. Found out they don't look at my blog but only read the messages that are sent to them. I told them to start clicking at the bottom of the e-mail page because I sometimes put photos there that the e-mails don't capture.
Roxie stayed home tonight. She was tired from barking at the men working on a new house 3 down from us. They quit about 6:00 so now she can rest her voice for another round of barking tomorrow.
All the Washington family is gathering this weekend for a cousin's wedding. I give a shout out to them and hope they all have a great time together this weekend. Sorry the Texas Branch of the Berg family can't be there.

Thursday
Getting ready for New Braunfels trip. In one week the Wistner clan will be tubing the Comal. I ordered a waterproof cover for my digital camera today. Hopefully, it will get here in time to use it on the trip. I hope to get some nice action shots, but I think that will take water and there isn't much of that there right now. Only my family would plan a river floating vacation together during the year of the worst drought in history.
On a happier note, next week will be a short work week for us :) And the most important thing is that we're doing it together. I'm sure we'll all have a good time no matter what the water level is like.
Roxie will be staying with her Uncle Mark and Aunt Stephanie while we're gone. She can't wait to play with Jake and Bailey. I think she's secretly more excited about hanging around under Jake's chair at dinner time, but we don't want Bailey to hear that!

Yikes! New Bikes!
We got new bikes last week. I promptly went out and bought a Barbie bell for my handlebars, spoke sparklers and a bright Barbie pink basket to go on the front. Tommy made me promise not to ring the bell while I'm riding with him. I can't help it, it's too cute. The neighbors all love it. (I think they could be secretly jealous)
My bike as the big grandma seat for my big grandma seat! It's comfortable and doesn't hurt my butt or back when I ride like the old bike did. Tommy got an upgrade as well. He got a taller bike to fit his tall frame. I guess all these years he's been riding a bike too short for him.
Our neighborhood is perfect for riding and we've done that almost every afternoon. Maybe we'll see you around...

A New Week
Okay, we're back from Dallas and very tired. I swear they moved Dallas. It seemed like we were 10 miles from the darn Oklahoma border by the time we stopped. But, it was a very relaxing time. Lots of food and drinks :)
I hated to go to work today. I was so bummed I went and got a pedicure during my lunch hour instead of going to the grocery store to restock our empty fridge. Hello Hamburger Helper for dinner tonight!
Roxie had a great time at the beach. Granny and Pawpaw treated her well. She still won't eat her food because when she stays with them they put "treats" on it to get her to eat. Every time she comes home from staying with them we have a 2 day hunger strike. (But we win, she gives in by day 2)

Thank goodness for the short week this week!!!!
Happy 4th of July weekend for everyone.
Tommy and Angela are headed to Ponder, Texas for a 4th of July party. We'll be staying with some friend's parents and it should be a good time. Roxie is headed to the beach with Granny and PawPaw. Amy and Matt rented a cabin down there and Mom and Dad had already committed to keeping her, so she's packing up and her and Max are headed to the beach.

We're Back From Vacation :(
Well we made it back from vacation all in one piece.
The cruise had 3 stops, Panama, Costa Rica and Belize.
Panama was the least pretty but still cool because of the Canal. We did a tour there that was suppose to include the Canal and a Banana Plantation, but there was civil unrest there with protests so we didn't see the plantation.
Costa Rica was beautiful. We did zip lines there and saw a sloth from one of the platforms. The zip lines were long and fast. We had done it before in Jamaica, but they weren't like this. There was a trip to the beach and it would have been better if they had beach chairs, but it was just us, a Carnival towel and the sand.
Belize is breathtaking. There is no other way to describe it. The photos attached are from Belize. It's what dreams of the Caribbean are made of. We were the last 2 people to get back on the tender.
All in all it was right up there as one of the best cruises we've ever done.

VACATION IS HERE!!!!
I thought it would never get here! We'll be gone for 9 days but I promise to have great pictures when we get back.
Flying into Ft. Lauderdale and spending the night. Boarding the ship tomorrow and heading to Costa Rica, Belize and Panama. I keep singing that Van Halen song "Panama". Can't help it!!!
I'll try to post something on the cruise if I buy some internet time. Maybe.
Love to all, see you in Sunday 6/14

Vacation State of Mind
We're not pregnant!!!
It seems the name of the blog confused some people!!!!!
For the record, the third Mize is Roxie!
Vacation-itis has hit. So far we've eaten out every night but tonight and the spare room is full of all the things I have to pack in my suitcase (and pack in Tommy's suitcase when he isn't looking). 10 days is a lot of clothes for an "over-packer" to deal with. I wish I was one of those people who could pack everything they need for 2 weeks in one small carry-on suitcase. Instead, I pack like I'm heading out cross country for 6 months.
Already started work on the scrapbook. Got some of the pages ready for when we get back. I think doing it this way will make it less stressful and more fun to put together when we get back. I'm going for no fuss no muss on this one. It will still be decked out, but I'm hoping to still be in vacation mode when I put it together.

The House
Most of you have seen the new house in person, but for those of you who haven't... Here's a picture of the day we signed the papers and a picture of the house the day we moved in. I also included a couple pictures of the back of the house to show off Tom's new grill and TV. The patio and backyard are his favorite things about the house.

Blogging Day One
Never had a blog before and this seemed fun.
Count down to cruise #9 is under way. This time next week we'll be sailing on an 8 day cruise to Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize. I'll be posting those pictures when we get back and working on a scrapbook. I've already started some scrapbook pages just to get a jump start.
We'll celebrate our 6th year anniversary the day we get back from the cruise. We all know how I get on "the way home". So hopefully we'll still be talking!!!
