Caught on Tape...Minnie Unveiling

Here is Erin's reaction to the new bedroom.  I think she's happy about it.  We stayed in there for about 45 minutes pretending to go Night Night and rolling around on the bed.

Bed, Bath and Beyond...

I worked on Erin's bathroom and bedroom this week.  I finally got them done.  I think they turned out super cute.  We love Minnie, so how else could be decorate the bathroom.

Tommy had to give up his off white and floral shower curtain off his man room, but he was totally fine with it.

Deep and Wide, Hop Along...

Here's the video of Erin and Luke's performance last night.  Tommy shot it with his phone so hopefully you can play it.

Little Miss Manners...

Coming from the South, Tommy and I both feel strongly about saying Yes Ma'am and Yes Sir.  It's just habit for us both and we don't even know we're saying it.  It comes in handy at work as I don't have to even think about it when I'm on the phone with customers.

So, we're determined to impart this on to Erin.

I will tell her No Ma'am when she's doing something I don't like.  We've also started making her say it when she answers us now.  She gets a little confused at times.  She'll tell Tommy No Ma'am Daddy.

She's catching on, but we have a ways to go.

Y'all come back now, you hear!

Moving On Up...

I bought Erin's mattress yesterday for her "Big Girl" bed.  It's supposed to be delivered on Thursday.  Next weekend we're going to convert her bed to the full sized bed.

You know I don't do anything half way, so I decided to order all the bedding too.  It took a lot of deliberating on what to get.  I was torn between going with Minnie - that she loves, or matching what we already have from Pottery Barn so I could keep her wall decorations and curtains.  Minnie won.  I ordered if from Amazon so it will be here tomorrow.  I'll show it to her and get her excited so we can hopefully convince her the big girl bed is the way to go.

I do think the pink in the new bedding will match the curtains we already have.  (They're room darkening and noise reducing so I really have to keep them up.  The kid goes to bed at 7:00 and it's still blasting light outside!)  I just bought the new valance to go with the bedskirt so hopefully it won't look thrown together.  I want her room to be cute.

What bedroom isn't complete without it's own bathroom?  Hello!  So, momma bought the matching Minnie shower curtain, curtain holders and rug.  We're going to transform the upstairs bathroom to Erin's and move her out of our bathroom. We can't even take a bath in our own tub because of all the toys and the bathmat.  So, I thought now would be the perfect time to transition her upstairs so she can make it her own.

We've got ears, say cheers!

Photography 101 - Yes, for an idiot!

Took a photography class last weekend.  I really love playing with my camera and want to be able to shoot in Manual mode so I can really see what the camera can do.

I bought the entry level DLSR about 4 years ago and it had buttons that I didn't know what they did.  The class really helped.  The teacher said to shoot a minimum of 50 pictures a day for 30 days to get yourself used to moving your fingers to manipulate the modes.  Well, I'm a wash-up already.  I've taken a couple of shots but haven't devoted myself to it full time!  I do have a life!

Eventually, I'll upgrade my camera because he said we'll get good enough to outgrow what it can do.  I have no doubt that will happen as soon as I buckle down.  Everyone knows when I put my mind to it, I don't stop until I master the task.  (Read obsess until I get it right...)

Here are a couple of my practice shots.  It's hard to get the lighting right when you're dealing with a busy 3 year old!

Life of the Party...

Yes, Mae is wearing a lampshade in the picture below.

We had her spayed today and she's doing great.  The only problem was that Dr. Carder told us she immediately tried to lick her stitches so they had to put the collar on her.

If it weren't so sad it would be funny.  She runs into everything with that collar on.  She been banging around and whining for the last 30 minutes.  I had to take her outside to tinkle and she was running around the yard trying to sniff just the right place with that collar on.  Very sad.

I brought her in to eat and amazingly, she was able to figure out exactly how to do it with the collar on. I put her pain meds in with her food and even with the collar on, she was able to locate the pill in the bowl and spit it out after she ate every piece of food.

Fins to the Left...

We went to Jimmy Buffett this weekend in Dallas with Craig and Allison.  Gram and Pawpaw kept Erin and Mae.

We had a great time.  It was freezing cold, but the Parrotheads were out in full force.  I personally didn't go with the coconut bra and grass skirt.  I opted for blue jeans and my Cowboys sweatshirt.  (When in Rome...)
