We've Got Spirit!

Erin was thrilled to wear her new Texan's cheerleading outfit.  I told her last night she could wear it today and she could hardly sleep she was talking about it so much.

Well, this morning came and she didn't fight me on getting dressed!

She looks just too cute if I do say so myself.

The only down side is now that she wore it all day and the Texans lost, her Daddy may not let her wear it again!

Red is Bad...

Erin's class has a color system.  Green is good, Orange means you got a warning, and Red is bad.

Erin has been on red for the last 3 days.  She decided that her and the rest of the class don't need to nap anymore.  The afternoon teacher told me Erin has been walking around at nap time disrupting the nappers trying to get them to talk and play!

We've talked to her and had to take away the DVD/TV time in the afternoons.  We call it "Movie Time Out".  She loves to watch a little bit of a movie or TV after school while I'm fixing dinner.  We decided if she's going to be on red at school there has to be a punishment at home for it.  Well, actually I decided that.  Tommy thinks the teacher is just being hard on Erin!  Seriously!!! LOL

So, we pick her up and I check the board.  Once we're in the car we talk about it and she tells me she was on red like she's proud of it.  When we get home, the first thing she tells Tom is that she was on red today.  It's crazy.

Erin doesn't get upset about the Movie Time Out either anymore.  She did the first day, but now understands why she is being punished.  She is good during the morning at school, but at nap time the wheels come off the wagon.  I can't think of another punishment for her besides going into regular Time Out when we get home, but that seems like she wouldn't understand exactly why.

I really don't know what else to do.  How do you punish your kid for something you did as a child too?  I remember getting N's and U's in conduct quite a bit.  I would get in trouble and it was change for a little while, then I was back to talking and getting in trouble.

Tommy can hardly keep a straight face about it.  He talks to her about it too, but sometimes he has to look away because he starts to laugh.  She is so earnest about it.  She's proudly tell us she didn't take a nap.

She got in the car the other day and we were talking about it.  I told her it makes me sad when she gets in trouble because she's a good girl not a bad girl.  She immediately told me that Luke got Red too that day.  (I nearly busted a gut trying to keep from laughing.)  Luke was actually on Orange that day.  It makes me feel for the teachers.  They have both Mize kids in the same class.  I know when they're good, they're really good.  But... when they're bad, they're really bad too!

I'll keep you all posted.

I'm A Texan!

Okay, I'm a Texans fan with a Cowboy heart!

Went to my first Texans game yesterday.  We had such a great time.  The game was great too.  It ended in OT with the Texans winning.

We didn't tailgate this time.  Maybe we'll do it next time.

I can't believe how tired I was when we got home.  The game was a long one so we didn't get home until 5:15, but I was crazy tired.  I went to bed at 8:30 last night!!!

Here's a selfie before the game.

Yes, I painted my face and wore the Liberty White we're supposed to wear for this game.  Tommy very reluctantly agreed to let me paint stripes under his eyes.  The man must love me because he fought me tooth and nail.  I thought it was funny because Craig, Chad and Allison's Dad all let me paint them up.  We were Texans!

I've Seen a Ferris Wheel...

For those of you who don't know...

When I was about Erin's age my Mom or Daddy were talking to me.  I was babbling on and then they asked me a question about something impossible for me to have done/known. (I don't remember any of this and my parents are a little fuzzy on the details.)  I promptly responded "Yes, because I've seen a Ferris Wheel".

To this day it is a family saying.  Doesn't mean much to anyone outside of the family, but my fam will get the joke.

Here is Erin's first Ferris Wheel ride.  She loved it and kept telling her Daddy hi every time we went around.  It was very cute.  (That's William, Aunt Mimi and Uncle Matt with us on the ride.)

Best. Mini. Vacay. Ever!

We had an awesome time at Sea World this last weekend.  I was a little worried that everyone would have a good time.  My worries were unfounded.  We all had a blast.

We started out early on Friday and drove to San Antonio.  We took Daddy with us and Amy took Gram with them.  We met up almost at almost the same time at one of the stops along the way.  From there we caravanned on in.

We saw some shows and looked at animals, but the best part of the day was when we changed the kids into their swimsuits and let them go crazy at the splash pad.  It really was hilarious watching them.  William was a bit unsure about getting wet and Aunt Lolo (Lois) didn't think he would do it.  Three seconds after hurricane Erin ran thru he was right behind her.  We had a lot of Monkey See Monkey Do this weekend.

Erin told me later that he favorite part of the day was the Rollercoaster she rode.  It was a first for us.  She wasn't tall enough to ride the one at the Rodeo this year, but she squeaked by on this one at Sea World.  I was so proud of her.  She just jumped in there and smiled and laughed thru the whole thing.  She had a ball.  I rode with her and when it stopped she said "Let's do it again Momma!"  That's my brave little girl.

Saturday was spent at Aquatica, the Sea World waterpark.  It was terrific.  I randomly ran into a coworker and his family and his wife told me they come a couple times a year to do it.  We bought the season pass, so I know we'll be back too!

Erin rode her first waterslide with her Daddy and me.  It was a 4 person tube and the 3 of us loaded up.  I sat her beside me so I could grab her if anything happened.  She had her little life jacket on and was prepared for anything.  We started out kind of fast and then we were zipping thru the tunnel going way up on the walls and spinning around.  All you could see was a huge smile on her face.  That slide ended up underneath the sting ray pond so you were looking up at the fish and sting rays.  Erin thought that was way cool too.  Again, we got off and she immediately asked to do it again!

My child has no fear!  She really is the bravest little girl I've ever seen.  Not that I'm biased or an expert, but she really will try anything once and I've never seen her afraid of anything!

We moved from there to the kiddie pool area.  It had 4 waterslides there of the smaller kind.  Erin and William had a blast.  They were up and down those slides like crazy.  We had a human conveyor belt working to get them up there.  One of us was in the pool at the bottom of the slide, another was in the pool at the steps.  Someone else was working the outside steps up to the slide and then we had someone stationed at the top of the slides to make sure they stood in line (a concept that is not big in the kiddie area of Sea World) and got going.

Sesame Street characters were there.  Again, my child has no fear.  I thought she would not like them but she ran up to Abby Caddaby and started talking to her.  She was with Cookie Monster and Zoe, but Abby is who Erin likes.  Abby had her wand so Erin snatched it out of her hand and was putting spells on everyone.  In the picture I took, she's bopping her on the nose with her own wand!

All in all, a great vacation for the family.  We were all so impressed with the friendliness and cleanliness of the park we can't wait to do it again.  We picked the best weekend too, because there were very few lines and we got to park very close.

I'm Gonna Get Treasure Box...

Okay, so I built a "Treasure Box" to encourage Erin to poop on the potty.  We have the other down, but we're having trouble with the pooping part.

When she goes on the potty she gets a prize out of the treasure box.  (I took a tote and filled it with junk a 3 year old would like.  Laughed at myself because I spent about $100 dollars on various $1.00 to $5.00 treats!  It's a nice treasure box!)

Now, whenever Erin does ANYTHING it's "I'm gonna get treasure box"?  I've created a treasure box monster.  Like the other day she drank all of her Capri Sun and asked if she could get treasure box.  Hardy har har.  The Capri Sun is a treat by itself!

I would gladly empty the box if she would succeed in potty training!

Was It Us...

Our street has about 16 houses on it and we were a very tight knit group a couple of years ago.  We all moved in around the same time since the street is only 6 years old!!

Lots of people are moving off our street.  I'm beginning to think it might be us!!

Welcome the new neighbors even if they aren't as close as we used to be and miss the old ones.  :(

I'm in Trouble...

Okay, so I worked on my scrapbook and forgot to put pictures of Tommy's fishing trip in there.  It was the first thing he noticed when he looked at my book.  It honestly never occurred to me.

So, to rectify the situation...I'm posting the pictures on my blog.  He's to Ahab and his friends.

Good Bye Summer Hits...

Another summer is wrapped up and in the can.  What a great one.  I know people that get sad because their kids are growing up but I love that Erin is getting bigger.  I think she becomes more fun each and every day.  She makes us laugh and it turned into a great summer.  Best. One. Yet!

June:
  • Started Swim Lessons at Fins and fell in love with Miss Kara and going every day.  Erin swims like a fish now, but Momma and Daddy are still not ready to take the floaty off.
  • We went on our 10th Anniversary cruise.  Erin stayed with Mom and Daddy and a good time was had by all. (Jim and Sandy are still recovering...)
  • Erin mastered going pee pee on the potty and we're down to almost no accidents during the day.
  • We cut Erin's hair off in the cutest little Bob you've ever seen.
July:
  • We celebrated America's birthday in family style.  Erin and William played all day and sang Happy Birthday America in the best rendition on Happy Birthday the World has ever heard.
  • Erin has her 3 year photo session with Hard2Hold Photography - yes, I still haven't ordered the prints because I simply cannot decide on which ones because they ALL turned out so cute.
  • I started selling everything we own on Woodlands Online
  • Erin celebrated turning 3 with two parties.  One at home with just family on her actual birthday.  The other at the Little Gym with all her friends and cousins the next weekend.  Of course it was a Minnie Mouse theme!
August:
  • I made Erin and William teepees and they love them.
  • William turned 2 and we celebrated with an Indian Themed family party complete with brown paper bag vests and construction paper head dresses.
  • Erin had her first trip to the dentist and got an excellent report!  Yay us!
  • Gram turned 68 and we had a little party for her too - no Minnie Mouse theme!
  • We babysat Bailey for a week and Erin fell in love with her - Mae loved having her here too!
  • We went to Florida for the week and had the best time ever!
  • Erin started Ballet class - she loves it!
Here's to hoping the rest of the year turns out as fun as summer has been. Love it!

I Want to Pump You Up...

Erin had a busy Labor Day weekend.  Gram and Pawpaw were over on Friday and we made gumbo.  Tommy wanted to learn and my Daddy is always a great teacher.

On Saturday we had a birthday party for one of her friends from school.  We went to Pump It Up.  That is always a favorite.  They were in one of the private rooms and had a great time.  There were more older kids there then I would have wanted and they were running over the little ones, but Erin had fun anyway.  I only had to yell at two strange kids when no one else was looking.

The Jump House had a wind tunnel too.  Erin and her other friend from school had a blast in there.  Both of them suckered their Daddies into buying them a couple of turns in there.

Sunday was a fish fry with all the Florida peeps.  Tommy fried up the catch from their one day out deep sea fishing when we were in FL.  It was great.  We got to see everyone again and the kids just played and played.

Now that the weekend is over, we need another weekend to recover from the weekend!
