The week before Thanksgiving and I was already 90% finished with my Christmas shopping. Yay me! I think this is a personal best. The only ones left to shop for are our siblings and spouses. Now I just have to teach Roxie how to wrap it all!
Hats off to all my chicas who braved the Black Friday shopping to get it done. I don't think I'm morally superior, but I don't participate in the Black Friday thing. I know some people don't do it because of the hours and the work the poor retail folks have to work. Not me. I just don't see much savings in the things I buy and I would rather shop on line and get discounts and free shipping. I say this and next year I'll be out there looking for that "one toy that we have to have". I'm visioning a Cabbage Patch like craze.
I ordered so much on line there has literally been a package at the door everyday since I started my shopping. I love it. It's a rush when I see what we got people. I just love Christmas!
Look for the annual Mize Christmas card in a mailbox near you. We took the picture yesterday and of course it was a calamity. No worries, the outtakes are on the back like last year. I have them ordered and they should be shipping soon. I was obsessed with getting it done yesterday. Bridgette and Wade came in for the day so we had a little photo shoot while they were here. It worked out well. But a word to the wise, don't try to take a picture with a 2 year old kid and an 11 year old dog with the shakes wearing headgear. It just doesn't have a happy ending.

Three Wild Thanksgiving Indians...
I feel that I can use Indians instead of Native Americans because of the Indian blood on my Mom's side. So, Wild Indians we are.
The weekend started super fun. I got 3 pies ready and tackled little parts of the house where I had messes. (We're having 2 Christmas parties here and needed to de-clutter my house.) I've already made one trip to Goodwill and have another load in the back of my truck.
We went to Centerville for TG Day. We had a houseful. My parents and Bonnie and David (Steph's mom and brother) were there too along with the regular Mize Family. We kept the biggest Thanksgiving tradition alive and had way too much food.
The weather was in the 70s so the kids played outside most of the day. Jimmie had cleaned the house and spent hours in the toy room sorting toys into boxes. Erin walked in and within 2 minutes had dumped every box onto the floor at Luke's feet. I felt so bad.
At one point all 3 kids were in the back of the house and it was way too quiet. I went in to find out what they were doing and rounded the corner to hear Jake tell me, "they're playing with markers." Of all the times for him not to tattle. Anyway, Erin and Luke both had the lids off of permanent markers and Erin had already autographed Peepaw's desk. Granny said later that she got it off. Erin just wanted to leave a little reminder to Peepaw that she was there.
What TG would be complete without hunting as well. Tommy and Mark both shot spikes. They both got them within 30 minutes of leaving for the stand. Tommy had driven his own truck in case he was late, but he didn't turn out to be very late at all. I'll spare you the photos of the dead deer.

Watching the Dad's come back from "the back".
Running amuck!
High Steppin in the tall grass.
Jake and Erin running around in the front
Follow me Erin, I promise we won't get in trouble. Wink, wink!
Off to the pond to check on the fish!
Daddy's taxi service
The weather is better up here!
Hang on a second, I'm coming...
Double trouble
A wagon ride after a long days playing.
You can't see the dirt, but she was filthy.
Roxie stayed home and guarded the house while we were gone.
All in all it has been a weekend to be Thankful for. I love my family.

On the Go...
I feel compelled to do my first on the go blog on my iPad. I've had for a year and never blogged on the go.
Riding in the car on the way back from Austin. Tom is driving and listening to football. Erin was watching a movie in the back but then fell asleep. Where were all these toys when we were driving to Washington when I was a kid?
It was Julia's birthday party this weekend. Erin was the youngest there but Julia wanted her baby sister there. It was a great party. About 8 little girls at a Glitz and Glam party. They did makeup and their nails. It was the first time I painted Erin's nails and she did great. She stood still and we decked her out in t pink. Too cute. Bridgette set up a photo step and repeat and we took pics of all the little girls all glammed up.
Don't think I won't be stealing this idea 4 years from now!
Rox went to Gram and pawpaws for the weekend.

Up Before the Chickens...
If I've never said it to you before, I just love the fall time change. It's second only to Christmas as my favorite day of the year. I have always enjoyed the "extra" hour of sleep and the cool weather usually associated with the change. Until this year...
Erin and Roxie didn't get the memo on the extra hour of sleep. They decided to take turns waking me up before I usually get up. (My normal time to get up is 5:30 so I can get ready in peace and quiet before the household gets up for the day.)
Sunday Erin woke up at 4:30 instead of her normal 5:30. We typiclly let her lay in her bed for an hour until 6:30 when her and her Daddy both get out of bed. She lays in there singing and talking to herself and it is so cute. Instead, she layed there for an hour on Sunday and decided it was time to get up at 5:30. So Sunday was a looooong day, and Momma didn't have her normal hour of solitude to herself!
Roxie woke me up at 5:00 yesterday and today. I guess she cheated Erin out of her turn this morning! I feel so bad for her that I can't lay there and ignore her. The meds we have her on make her very thirsty and therefore, she needs to go out a lot more. Poor baby. She comes to my side of the bed and jumps against it or shakes her collar so I'll hear her and get up.
And as for the cooler weather associated with the time change. I'm still waiting on that one.

We've Got Ears, Say Cheers...
Here are Erin's Halloweeen pictures. I would have put them up yesterday but stupid Sears lost them until today. Oh well, better late then never.
