The Object of Our Obsession...

Erin is complete obsessed with Minnie Mouse.  She has 3 stuffed Minnie's that sleep with her each night.  Yesterday she woke up upset because the bow came off of her littlest Minnie.

Emergency surgery was performed after Erin went to school and I can say that Minnie now has stitches, but seems to be recovering well.

The Zoo

Friday was a milestone day in the Mize household.  We took Erin to the zoo for the first time.  We'd been holding off until it got cooler outside since the animals don't like the heat.  It was a beautiful day.  Gram and Pawpaw met us over at the Zoo with Baby William.  Aunt Mimi met up with us a little later.

Erin loved the sea lions and the kid's part of the zoo the best.  She would still be with the goats in the petting zoo right now if we'd let her.  Willliam wasn't as impressed with the goats but I think he had a good time any way.

Here's a couple pics from the trip.

And yes, we were those parents with the Toddler on the monkey backpack/leash combo.  And it works!

Crash Landing...

Erin reached another milestone today.  And not a good one...

We have a very tall bed.  It has a very thick pillow top mattress and a tall frame so it comes up to about my waist.  Up until now, the Mizes had managed to get to 2 years old before Erin took a header off of the bed.  I guess I should just be thankful it took this long and that she's okay.

She was having a terrible morning.  She was crying over EVERYTHING and nothing was making her happy.  We periodically have these mornings where she pitches little fits and cries over absolutely the tiniest things.  I think they call it being 2.

I was trying to change her diaper so I had her laying on our bed.  She managed to get away from me and off the changing pad and onto the bed.  From there, she grabbed the changing pad and sunk her teeth into it all the while she was screaming bloody murder.  She was sitting on her bottom with the changing pad in her teeth across the bed from me with her back to the side.  I was talking calmly to her and trying to get her to settle down.  She then started pulling on the changing pad like a rabid dog and yanked it out of her own teeth.  She pulled the changing pad out of her own teeth so hard that it knocked her backwards when it came out.  I lunged across the bed and Tommy ran from the other side of the room but we were too late.  She flipped off the bed backwards and landed in a heap on the floor on the other side of the bed.

Whoa was she ticked after that.  I just thought there were tears before that!  She burst into even more of a fit because she was scared.  Nothing seemed to be hurting her, but I know her little teeth had to hurt.  I can't believe she didn't rip a hole in the changing pad!

I feel bad that it happened but she doesn't seem any worse for wear and tonight she was in a great mood.  We'll be taking her to the vet this week anyway to get a rabies shot!  Roxie couldn't have gotten a better grip on that changing pad.  It was crazy!

All Things Minnie...

Erin's newest obsession is Minnie Mouse.

Jake and Luke got her a stuffed Minnie for her first Christmas, but Erin hasn't really cared about it...until now...she loves, loves, loves her some Minnie these days.

For her birthday it was like everyone knew and bought her Minnie stuff.  We don't even know how she knows Minnie since we don't watch anything but Sesame Street with her.  (We're also big Elmo fans!)  She calls her Me-Mouse and it's just too stinkin' cute for words.

Minnie has popped up in our lunch kit, our thermos for our "juicy", a shopping cart, on our school clothes and in a ton of her new birthday toys.  She also has 2 other stuffed Minnies that sleep with her.  Every morning she comes down the stairs with Tommy and an armload of Minnie dolls.  We all have breakfast and get ready for school with her.

One of the best things is a singing Minnie birthday card that she got from my parent's neighbor's granddaughter.  It's one of those that sing when you open it.  Erin loves it and has learned to sing Happy Birthday from listening to that card over and over and over and over...

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you.  Happy birthday from Minnie Mouse, happy birthday to you!

Sweet Dreams...

We are officially set up for a toddler now.  We converted Erin's bed this weekend to the toddler bed.  She is spending the night with Gram and Pawpaw and wasn't here to help us today.  I think she'll be surprised to find her big girl bed all set up and ready to go.

Tomorrow's big test will be her nap.  My parents are supposed to bring her home in time to take a nap here.  We're both kind of nervous to see what happens.  Erin is such a good sleeper that we have gotten spoiled to it.  Dr. Elahee told us it was time for the toddler bed and Erin has made like she is going to climb out once or twice, so we decided just to do it.

The biggest thing was strapping the furniture to the walls today.  I've seen enough friends kids climb up the dresser to know that my little Angel would be happy to follow in their footsteps.  So, I ordered the straps and we put them on today.  Yes, it took both of us to move her one dresser/hutch combo.  It weighs a ton.

All we need now if a toddler!

This isn't the permanent bedding I'm going to use.  Erin hates to be covered up and the comforter I'm getting is down, so we'll wait until it gets cooler to put it on the bed.  In the meantime, this is her crib quilt that went with her baby bedding that never got used.  It won't be used tomorrow either.  She'll cry and kick it off, but I wanted to see what it all looked like together.   It turned out too cute.  I love Pottery Barn Kids stuff.
