The Beach Day 2…

First Day on the Beach…

Well, Day 1 is in the can and on the editing room floor.  I had to upload my pictures because Erin kept trying to get to my camera and I learned my lesson at SeaWorld.
I haven’t put a video on here in a while.  This one is hilarious.  You have to watch it to the end.  I can’t believe I caught it on camera.  They had been playing for a while before I grabbed the camera.

It’s Here…

Vacation is finally here.  I have so much to do!!

Erin stayed with my parents last night and I packed her bag.  Now, I just have to get her to bed tonight and finish packing my stuff and ALL the household stuff we need.  I have to wait until she goes to bed or she’s try to “help” me.  It’s cute, but Momma doesn’t have the time!

We’ll leave around 4:00 or 5:00 am and roll East.  I expect that as usual Louisiana will be the longest part of the trip.  It always seems to take hours to drive thru it.  (Now I know what people feel like when they drive across Texas!  That’s days not hours!!)  Once you get to Mississippi it’s quick from there.

Love the people in Alabama, but that tunnel on I-10 is stupid!!!  It’s called a bridge people.  It goes from one side to the other OVER the water, not under it.  The problem with the tunnel is that it’s built on a curve and it’s only 2 lanes wide.  Traffic has to slow down to 35 mph to go thru it.  Very inefficient!!!

Hopefully we’ll have smooth sailing and Erin will nap a little on the way there.  I’m sure she’ll even ask “Are we there yet?” in her sleep!

The Countdown Continues…

The countdown to Florida is up and running.  2 more days!!!  We’ll roll between 4:00 and 5:00 am Saturday morning.  It takes us longer with Erin because we have to stop more, but the drive should only be about 10 hours.  I will keep count of how many times she asks “are we there in FL yet?”  I am saying at least 45 and I’m probably low.

I’ve already started my planning but not my packing.  We work all week, so I have to pack Thursday and Friday nights.  It’s not too bad.  I just lay the suitcases out in the guest room and pack away.  I have 3 lists going and have to make a 4th as well for the stuff I use and can’t pack until the morning of.

I have a friend at work who uses a program called EverNote.  She is an organization junkie like me so I have to try her system.  She has a generic FL packing list that they use every year to make sure they have everything.  She scanned it in to EverNote and just pulls it up every year. Brilliant!  I am ashamed to admit how stoked I am to try it.  I think I need psychiatric assistance!

As per my MO... I’ve sent out emails to the group trying to get some things lined up.  I don’t need to have every minute of every day planned out, but I like to know who is cooking one meal and who is cooking two so I can get it all thought out on what I need to buy when we’re there.  I do it before we leave so we’re not standing in a bare kitchen trying to make decisions after we’ve driven 10 hours and we’re tired. (I just can’t help myself.  I have to plan, plan, plan…)

We may go to Crab Island this year as a day trip while we’re there.  The other Mizes are renting a boat and taking it over there.  It’s supposed to be a fun day for the kids.  My hold back is that we’re already at the beach and it’s so pretty.  I’m not sure I want to leave the free beach to go to a paid beach!!!  Who would have thought I’d be the cheap one of the group.  What a joke!!!

We were thinking about the water park within walking distance of our house, but decided against it since we just went to SeaWorld and we’re going back in September.  Now, we just have to figure out how to break it to the kids when they look at it everyday and want to go there!

I promise to keep Erin away from my cameras this time so I actually come back with pictures!

Here’s a shot of the Countdown I have on my phone.  (Oh, and I start my new job in one month and 15 days!!  I have that countdown on there too!)

countdown- 2 days

But who is counting!

A Little Time in the Country…

We went and picked the kids up yesterday in the country.  We got there and Erin came running to me.  She jumped up in my arms.  I knew she missed me but she told me how much fun she had.  I had intentionally not called while she was there.  It was hard, but I didn’t want her to start missing us and want to come home.

Granny and Pepaw were worn smooth out.  Three kids for three whole days is a lot when you’re used to the peace and quiet of Country living.

They said all in all that the kids were great.  Louis told me that Erin can hold her own with those two boys.  I think the worse behavior was wanting something one of the other kids had.  No one wanted to share!!!

We stopped for lunch on the way home and I got a taste of what it would be like to have 3 kids.  When they outnumber you, it’s very easy to be thankful I only have one!!!  They weren’t BAD bad, just being kids!  The boys wouldn’t keep their hands to themselves and Erin wouldn’t stay in her seat.  It was almost impossible for one person to watch and referee all 3 of them at once.  I had to use my “eyes on the back of my head Mom skills!”  But, the minute the food came they were quiet and ate.  I think being in the Country worked up an good appetite.  Everyone scarfed down their cheeseburger.

Here’s my favorite picture of Erin.  They’re getting ready to go corn the deer in the back.  This was taken right before she got carsick and threw up Spaghettios in Pepaw’s truck!!!
