Merry Christmas to all!
I'm working tomorrow until 3:00, then we're heading up to Centerville so I won't be updating the blog tomorrow or on Christmas Day. We'll have Christmas with the Mizes this year. (We rotate years between the Wistners and Mizes.) Santa will visit Jake on Christmas Day then Mark and Steph and Jake will come up to Centerville and all the Mizes will celebrate on Christmas Day. The Wistners had our Christmas last weekend. It gets a little hectic going from here to there from one family to the next, but well worth it in the end.
I think Tommy and I will have our Christmas together before we leave tomorrow. We like to have our small Christmas just the two of us before we get to the family celebrations. It's been our little tradition. I guess next year the tradition will be very different!!! And something tells me Christmas won't be that small anymore!
I just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. It's suppose to be cold and that makes me even more festive. So, bundle up and drink lots of hot chocolate!
P.S. We'll be 11 weeks along on Christmas Day. The baby will be just over 2 inches long and weigh about 1/3 of an ounce. Hair follicles are forming as well as finger nail and toe nail beds. The baby now has individual fingers and toes now instead of webbed hangs and feet. Supposedly, the baby is now suppose to look more like a baby.

Doctor's Visit
We had another doctor's visit this morning.
He listened with the Doppler and found the heartbeat. He said it can be hard to find 10 weeks, but it was there. It sounded like horses running. It was 171 beats a minute. It sounded good and strong to me but what do I know!
We were there for a check up and to see if we wanted to do the genetic testing for chromosomal abnormalities. We don't. He got us in this week to make sure we had time to order the tests if we wanted them done. We're going on faith here. God has looked out for us this far and we have faith that everything will be fine. In the end, Dr. Strong seemed supportive of the fact that we declined the testing. He didn't push or question our decision at all.
We go back in a month. He said at that visit he'll listen to the heartbeat again and the visit after that is when we'll find out the sex. (20 weeks) We signed our OB Contract today and found out the drive-out price on our little package. It's crazy, they won't see you again until you sign the contract. We have great insurance, so it wasn't a problem, but that would have put a spoiler on the visit if we didn't!
Roxie is still in denial of the fact that she'll no longer be an only child.

Happy 10 Weeks
Okay, I think I may have the morning sickness beat. I have figured out little tricks and so far so good. (Yesterday doesn't count...) Now, I just have to get over my head cold and allergies!
We're 10 weeks today.
The baby is the size of a prune. Not sure but I think he/she may actually resemble a prune at this stage. Knees and ankles are forming and he/she has elbows that are already working. Bones and joints are forming and calcifying. (We could actually see the spine forming on the last ultrasound.) We have an appointment first thing Monday morning so I should have more to post after that.
Busy weekend at the Mizes. Wistner family Christmas is tonight. Amy and Matt are leaving to be with his family over the holiday so we're doing it a little early this year. Whose complaining? Early Christmas presents!!
Tomorrow is the Mize Christmas party with Tommy's extended family. We're driving to Madisonville to have the festivities at his cousin's house. If I know me and my cravings, we'll have to stop at Buccee's in Madisonville to buy me some peanut butter fudge. Yum.
Roxie will be hanging with her cousins tonight and will be spending tomorrow recovering.

Yucky Monday
I picked a good day to stay home and work from home. It's cold, rainy and very foggy today. In the meantime, Roxie and I are drinking hot chocolate and working in our pajamas!
We had a busy weekend. We were at Chad White's first birthday party. I think the highlight was seeing him dive into his cake. He had blue icing everywhere! Tommy had another Texans game yesterday. They won so he came home happy. He's fighting a bad cold and went to bed before I did last night - please read that as he went to bed at 8:00 pm - so you know he was sick!
I finished up my Christmas shopping yesterday. Now I just have to get everything wrapped. We're having our family Christmas on Friday night. Amy and Matt are flying out of town for Christmas to be with his family and it's the only time before Christmas that we can all get together. In keeping with the non-traditional theme, we're having nachos for dinner that night! Ole!

Week Nine
It's officially week 9 today. We're now in our 3rd month!
The baby has graduated from an embryo to a fetus. It's grown about an inch and is now the size of a large green olive. Arms and legs are in place and muscles are now twitching and moving, but I can't feel it yet. We could see the arms and legs on the ultrasound on Wednesday. The baby's head is starting to look more like a head. I think all in all the baby is starting to look more like a baby!
We made the decision to find out the sex of the baby so as soon as we can do that we're going to. There's just too much to plan for not to find out. We would both like to be surprised, but neither one of us wants to wait out the nine months until we know. So, come week 20 we're going to find out. (Now watch the baby not cooperate and keep his/her legs together!)
I've been waking up in the middle of the night hungry. I guess because I go to bed so early! Anyway, I get up with Roxie and we have a snack. Tommy's been sleeping thru the whole thing. It's just weird for me to wake up hungry in the middle of the night.
