Eleven more weeks to go...
The book says the baby is about 17 inches long. We know from the ultrasound that she's 3.5 lbs. (The book says she's about 3 pounds. We have an overachiever!) In the next 11 weeks, the baby will come close to tripling her weight. Yikes! I sure hope the book is wrong about that! She'll start getting cramped in there pretty soon and the book talks about more jabs and pokes to come.
Dr. Strong indicated that we'll be having another ultrasound before we deliver. He said the next ultrasound is to gauge the baby's size. I think it will be in about 5 weeks. We have an appointment in 3 weeks, then another 2 weeks after that.
We decided on an anniversary trip. For the first time since we've been married, we won't be taking a cruise/all-inclusive to celebrate. To make up for it, we're going to spend a couple of days at South Shore Harbor resort in Kemah. It's about an hour south of here, and they have a great pool and a swim up bar. We plan on relaxing as close to tropical as we can get! I can taste the virgin strawberry daiquiri now.

4D Ultrasound Today - Team Erin Grace
Erin had her first real photo shoot today. We had the 4D ultrasound. The pictures were amazing. She was very cooperative. She wiggled and moved and smiled a lot while she was being photographed. She was very happy because most of her grandparents got to be there too. Grandpa Louis had to work, but the rest of her cheering section was there in full force.
I think one of the best ones is with her feet and her hands both trying to go into her mouth. She really is her mother's child, young but still putting her foot in her mouth!
I think the Wistner nose has been passed on. Only time will truly tell, but the photos don't lie. I think she has my schnoz.
They were able to measure her and she's 3.5 lbs. She's in the 90th percentile for her size. I'm actually 28 weeks, but she's measuring at 30 weeks. I'm optimistically thinking this means she'll be early instead of just thinking she's going to be BIG! It's hard to really tell, but she looked really long to me and to Grandma Jimmie. Her little foot is 2 inches long already!! In the one picture, you can see her long skinny toes all stretched out and apart. She also had some hair on her head. You can't see it in the pictures, but the tech pointed it out.
Everything looked good on the ultrasound. Her heart, kidneys and girl parts were all there and appear to be working. Tommy had the tech double check to make sure she was still a she! More good news, the placenta has moved up like they hoped it would. Doesn't look like that will be a problem.
What a great day!

Overheard
This weekend the weather was beautiful. It was about 85 degrees without a cloud in the sky both Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday Tommy and I were eating lunch when he suggested we spend the rest of the day at the Neighborhood pool. Sounded like a great idea to me, but I didn't have a swimsuit. So, after we ate we ran to the mall. This is a feat all by itself. This is about the 5th or 6th time in our entire marriage that Tommy and I went to the mall together!
We headed straight to Motherhood Maternity. I grabbed a handful of suits to try on and Tommy took the "daddy" chair right outside the dressing room. You have to understand that the Motherhood in the Woodlands is tiny. I'm not sure why they don't upgrade considering they have the store jam packed and there are no shortage of preggos in the suburbs, but it's tiny.
Knowing my rather impatient man, I was double timing it in the dressing room. I was about halfway thru the stack and said "I'm hurrying Babe." His response was, "take your time. There is nowhere in the world I would rather be right now". Needless to say, everyone in the store heard him and EVERYONE died laughing. The girl in the dressing room next to me thought he was serious and started telling her husband that was a great answer and he could learn from Tommy!!!

And It Happened Overnight!
Pregnancy hit me hard in the last two days. I've been very, very lucky with the pregnancy and would say I've had a pretty easy time of it. We've had the placenta scare but for the most part it's been routine. Until Thursday night...my third trimester welcoming party started.
My books and a website I subscribe to have a lot of information about symptoms and gestational happenings. I scan them but don't pay a lot of attention to them unless I have a particular symptom (i.e. insomnia). Then I'll read more about it. I scanned the 7th month/3rd trimester info on Wednesday. None of it really seemed to apply right then, so it went in one ear and out the other.
Thursday night thunder struck. I guess I was just so tired that I did actually get a little sleep. Sometime right before dawn both calves seized up and I had the worst leg cramps I have ever had. It woke me up and I could hardly breathe! My feet and legs were so twisted up and locked that I couldn't move them. I managed to scoot out of the bed and stand up holding the mattress and Tommy's chest of drawers. I couldn't walk and just had to stand there until it started to relax. Ouch! My calves are still sore 2 days later!!!
And, this morning I woke up to swelling. That's a first too. It's my hands and feet. They aren't big ugly swollen, but they are still tender. I was thinking I might avoid this preggo pitfall, but I think my body has other ideas!
Now, if I could just teach Roxie to rub my feet...

Week 28 - The Third Trimester and a Hairy Face!
Drum roll please! We're in the 3rd Trimester tomorrow. Ta Da!
This week our little darling has reached about 2 1/2 lbs and she's about 16 inches long. Her best skill of the week is that she started blinking. She's also coughing, sucking, hiccupping and taking practice breaths. The book also says she's started REM sleep which means she might be dreaming. (I hope she's dreaming about a nice good nights sleep for her mother because I sure as heck ain't dreaming lately. You have to actually sleep to dream.) Her lungs are almost fully developed at this point.
I posted this on Facebook, but some of you might not have seen it. The little old Mexican housekeeper at work saw me today. She stopped me on my way to the bathroom (about trip number 643). She rubbed my belly and told me she hopes the baby has Tommy's face and my hair. I laughed and thanked her. I'm really not sure what's wrong with my face and his hair, but she was very certain her combo was better. I personally think the baby will look funny with a goatee, but to each his own!
I started the pediatrician hunt today. I know I have time, but we all know I'm driven to plan, plan, plan. I called about 15 different offices. I'm sure I'm too picky. I want someone younger, whose practice is open late a couple days a week and has Saturday hours. I want them to speak English as their first language. I would prefer they have a Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to assist them with writing scripts. I know there will be times later on when I just need someone to call in the antibiotics without a major show.
As it turns out, Cousins Jake and Luke have a great doctor. I called his office and fell in love with the girl answering the phone. She was very nice, very helpful and really funny. They kind of have strange names so I just came right out and asked if they were American. She didn't get offended and laughed and said, with those names she could see why I asked. They have great hours and met all of my requirements. We'll make an appointment and go in to see them, but I'm pretty sure this office will be treating all of the Mize grandchildren very soon. Maybe they have a frequent flyer program.
